Fire Emergency Response

If you discover a fire:

* Alert people in the area of the need to evacuate
* Activate the nearest fire alarm
* Call Public Safety at 911

If a building fire alarm is sounding or you receive notification of a fire emergency:

* Feel the door or doorknob to the hallway with the back of your hand. If it feels hot, do not open it – the fire may be on the other side of the door. If you are trapped, put a cloth or towel under the door to help prevent the entry of smoke. Dial 911 and tell the Public Safety dispatcher your location and telephone extension and that you are trapped in the room and need rescue. Stay on the phone until instructed otherwise.
* If the door is not hot, open it slowly. If the hallway is clear of smoke, walk to the nearest fire exit and evacuate via the nearest stairwell to the street/grade level exit.
* Close doors behind you.
* Do not attempt to use elevators. Elevators are tied to the fire detection system and are not available to occupants once the alarm sounds.
* Assemble at the area designated in your departmental Emergency Action Plan and remain there until instructed by Public Safety or the fire department that it is safe to re-enter the building.

Muay Thai, The art of eight limbs.

Muay Thai (IPA: [/muai32 tʰai32/]; Thai: มวยไทย) literally Thai Boxing and also known as The Art of the Eight Limbs is the Thai name for a form of hard martial art practiced in several Southeast Asian countries including Thailand. It is known as Pradal Serey in Cambodia, Tomoi in Malaysia, Muay Lao in Laos and as a similar style called Lethwei in Myanmar. The different styles of kickboxing in Southeast Asia are analogous to the different types of Kung Fu in China or Silat in the Malay peninsula. The Thai military uses a modified form of Muay Thai called Lerdrit.

Muay Thai has a long history in Thailand and is the country's national sport. Traditional Muay Thai practiced today varies slightly from the ancient art Muay Boran and uses kicks and punches in a ring with gloves similar to those used in Western boxing. Muay Thai is referred to as "The Science of Eight Limbs", as the hands, shins, elbows, and knees are all used extensively in this art. A master practitioner of Muay Thai thus has the ability to execute strikes using eight "points of contact," as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (fists, feet) used in the primarily sport-oriented forms of martial arts.

Super featherweight superstar Manny Pacquiao (45-3-2, 35 KOs) took a one-sided twelve round unanimous decision over Marco Antonio Barrera (63-6, 42 KOs) on Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Pacquiao, who previously stopped Barrera four years ago, was again the aggressor and outworked Barrera, who tried to keep the fight tactical. Barrera chose to trade in the fifth, his best round, however, for the most part "Pacman" outgunned the tentative "Baby-faced Assassin." Barrera was deducted a point for hitting after the break in round eleven, a round where Barrera also sustained a nasty cut under his right eye. Scores were 118-109, 118-109, 115-112. WBO featherweight champion Steven Luevano (34-1, 15 KOs) scored a one-sided twelve round over Antonio 'T-Rex' Davis (24-4, 12 KOs) to retain his belt for the first time. Luevano dropped Davis at the end of the eleventh on the way to a 119-108, 119-108, 118-109 win.

Super Middleweight Librado Andrade (26-1, 20 KOs) once again demonstrated a world class chin before taking out a spent Yusaf Mack (23-2, 14 KOs) in round seven. Andrade was down in round one and took a lot of shots before dropping Mack three times in the seventh prompting referee Jay Nady to wave it off at 2:34. Andrade claimed the USBA title. The Contender's Steve Forbes (33-5, 9 KOs) won a close ten round split decision over Francisco "Panchito" Bojado (17-3, 11 KOs) in a welterweight bout. COMPUTER PILLOWs as a cure for people who snores when asleep.

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German scientist has come up with a solution for snoring -- a computerized pillow that shifts the head's sleeping position until the noise stops.

Daryoush Bazargani, professor of computer science at the University of Rostock and the pillow's inventor, was displaying a prototype of his pillow at a health conference in Germany on Wednesday.

"The pillow is attached to a computer, which is the size of a book, rests on a bedside table, and analyses snoring noises," Bazargani told Reuters.

"The computer then reduces or enlarges air compartments within the pillow to facilitate nasal airflow to minimize snoring as the user shifts during sleep," he said.

The ergonomic pillow can also be used for neck massages.
