Embarrassed by Nail Fungus?

You are fortunate if you have not contacted nail fungus and suffered the irritation and shame that goes with this condition. This problem is widespread and many people are beset with it. This ailment totally ruins the nail and the area looks ghastly.

Talking from my own personal experience, this condition is uncomfortable and not at all visually appealing. I was taken aback when a couple of toenails came completely off my nail bed. On top of that my doctor said that there was a high possibility of the new nails being deformed and would take almost a year to grow fully. Well, I was fortunate and the nails were not deformed but grew at an extremely slow pace which disturbed lot of my routine life and had to curtail activities outside the house.

Being of a helpful nature, I want to draw people\'s attention to the symptoms of nail fungus and how to cure it. I want to make sure that your nails grow back correctly and have the best appearance.

Initially I was totally ignorant of the facts concerning nail fungus and only later when I seriously looked into the matter I found that this condition is brought about by a fungus which infects the nails on the hands or feet, typically in the nail bed. This infection can take place due to small cuts around the nail or through the cuticle area. This malady does not cause any grave trouble if you are a person with sound health, but the infected part is not pretty to look at, and may cause pain in severe cases.

The infection can be caused by a fungus and also other organisms like molds and yeasts. These creatures thrive in conditions and places which offer moisture and warmth. Nail fungus is contagious and can be contracted from a person already suffering from it. Typically you can catch an infection in areas frequented by many people like swimming pools, showers and salons. Make sure to carry your own towels and do not share items like scissors and clippers meant for nails. You cannot say for sure where you can get the infection but you can take all the precautions.

Knowing the symptoms of nail fungus will give you an advantage, so that you can start the curative process immediately, and not wait until it\'s too late to save the nail. The symptoms are:

-The color of the affected nail will change to black, white or yellow

-Thickening of your nail

-Splitting or crumbling of your nail

-Affected nail comes off from the nail bed

-Affected toe nails will cause discomfort while walking and wearing shoes

Heed the symptoms, and take if from me who has experienced nail fungus, that the condition will only deteriorate if you do not take any steps to cure it.

I\'ve suffered from this affliction many times and have attempted cures with prescription medicines and also with preparations available in health stores. Amazingly I found that the products bought over the counter had much less side effects and were as effective as the prescription drugs. Learning from experience I can say with authority that a visit to a medical practitioner is totally unnecessary for nail fungus, and you can cure it by products which are available over the counter. Another point I would like to make, which will save your money and time, is that all home concocted remedies which are plastered all over the Internet do not work at all.

I have found that products which require local application work the best and I am averse to the idea of taking any oral medication for this affliction. What gave me back clear and well-formed nails were anti fungal preparations sold over the counter, if applied regularly as instructed on the label.

The bottom line is to act immediately to get rid of nail fungus and save yourself embarrassment and discomfort.

Certainly toenail fungus is really frustrating and upsetting. We tend to ignore it but it will not help anyway. We should try to cure it early to avoid further complications.
