Your body is about 75 percent water. You need to replenish your body\'s water with new water to keep it functioning properly. Without exaggeration, every process in your body depends on water to some degree.

To digest a meal, your body requires two quarts of water and it has to get it from somewhere. If you are dehydrated, you might just feel sleepy after a meal because your water regulation system pulls water from wherever it can to get the meal digested. Your sleepy state is due to lack of available water to keep you alert.

Scientific studies show that your body needs half your weight in ounces of water to function optimally. By drinking adequate amounts of water, particularly alkaline, ionized water, you get your metabolism working optimally, you have less problems with blood sugar, toxic loads and joint problems.

It is amazing how many symptoms disappear when there is enough water in your body. Even your digestion improves. One of the main things that shifts with adequate water is your body terrain. Dehydration, even as little as a 2 percent drop in body water, can cause your body terrain to turn acidic and cause fuzzy thinking, short term memory problems, cognitive impairment, elevated blood sugar and a whole litany of minor complaints. As body water drops more, sore joints, muscle aches, blurred vision and other symptoms appear.

Some studies show that no matter what the physical complaint, improvement is seen as soon as a few minutes when enough water is consumed. Dr. Batmanghelidj always said that we over-medicate, we don\'t hydrate. If people would just take note that perhaps they need more water in their bodies, their symptoms could simply fall away just by wetting their whistle.
